Description
General: Ride at your leisure and enjoy a fully supported ride in the Smoky Mountains. Choose between 50k, 50k (w/ gravel) or 100k rides with cookies and treats along the way. These routes encompass several of the roads in Sevier and Cocke County that the moonshiners of old used to run from the Revenuers (federal agents). Feel the isolation, feel the rush and see the beauty of the Great Smoky National Park in a whole new way!
After the ride we will have a live band & BBQ with all the fixins. Riders will be allowed to shower at the campground. Do not miss the rare opportunity to ride these beautiful roads with moonshiner Kelly from the Moonshiner show on Discovery. As our official ride host, he will also participate and hang around after to visit with everyone.
This is a non-competitive, bicycle tour on maintained county roads and a couple low traffic state routes in Sevier and Cocke Counties. All proceeds of this Charity Bicycle Ride will benefit the Shadows of the Smokies Greenway Project, a non-profit focused on connecting the Cosby Campground (Adventure side of the Smokies to Gatlinburg proper by a suggested cycling friendly route).
FOOD: Snacks will be available at start/finish at the East Gatlinburg KOA and additional rest stops on the course (one will include a public restroom). The ride will conclude with a live band at the campground starting at 1pm and playing though 4pm. We will have Max’s Specialty Barbeque and Beers.
SUPPORT: There will be SAG support vehicles available, by cell phone to help with minor repairs. All emergencies should be reported to local law enforcement by calling 911. There will be at least one photographer on site.
