A public meeting to provide a review, update, and next steps on the proposed multi-use trail system within the Cherokee National Forest will be held May 31st from 4 pm to 6 pm at the Walter State Community College - Historic Tanner Building - 115 Mulberry Street, Room #201, Newport, TN 37821.
A short presentation will be provided at the beginning and middle of the meeting. The public is welcome to visit project stations and discuss the proposed trail system with representative Forest Service members, Cocke County Partnership, and Design Professionals. The proposed NEPA project allows up to 100 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails within Cherokee National Forest to promote outdoor recreation and economic development in Cocke County. Previous public meetings have already been held on this project to collect public input and inform the design and location. This public meeting is to learn the input results and understand how the proposed project will proceed.
All are welcome!
